Friday 5

свети минаFriday 5: Alarming

1. What was your most memorable alarm-clock failure?
I will say this morning’s alarm clock failure because I obviously remember it best right now. Vernon’s alarm kept going off at the wrong time and he was having to reset it, but for some reason it went off 800 times at the wrong time, and of course it didn’t make a peep at the time he actually set (or tried to, anyway) it for!
2. What item recently in the news do you find most alarming?
I read today that 3,000 fish were found dead in a local pond here. Could you imagine?!
3. Of car alarms, burglar alarms, and smoke alarms, which do you consider most effective or useful?
Smoke alarms. I don’t have any experience with burglar alarms so I can’t really speak for that one but some of my coworkers cars were broken into about a year ago, all equipped with car alarms and not one of them went off.
4. If the shoplifting alarm is tripped as you exit a store, what do you do?
I look around to see if anyone is going to tell me to go ahead or if I’m okay to go, if no one acknowledges it, I just keep walking.
5. If you owned some kind of personality alarm to warn you upon first meeting someone of likely trouble in the relationship, what would be five qualities you’d set it to detect?
Lying, no sense of humor, selfishness, sticky fingers, andddd, ummm, a crazy family? HA!

Tired

Vernon and I were up late last night, and although it was a really good night I am regretting it today! For some reason his phone kept ringing at 5 o’clock this morning and it woke up Lo, who wouldn’t go back to sleep which of course meant I had to get up, too.

I feel like I’m running on about 3 hours of sleep (give or take) and I don’t know if I’ll be able to stay awake much longer. Lo needs a bath, I still need to get our neighbors some info on 5th wheel insurance (I just love being the only internet savvy person on our street), pick up around the house, do the dishes… I could go on for a while. I don’t know how much, if any, of this stuff I’ll get around to. After all, it’s Friday night and we don’t have to be anywhere until tomorrow evening. I’ll just do it tomorrow.

To top off my tiredness, I have a not only a stomach ache, but a headache as well. :(

Flower Friday

Today has been a great day! This year at work, we started doing Summer hours which means I get to leave at 1:30 every other Friday! I’ll be so sad to go back to our normal hours because it is so nice to come home for a few hours and have the whole house to myself. This is extremely rare, so I love every minute of it!

After I left the office today, I stopped by the eye doctor to pick up my new reading glasses. Years and years of staring at a computer screen for such long periods at a time is starting to take a toll on my vision. :(

When I got home I decided to bust out my camera and take some pictures. I’m sure I’ve said it before, but I go through spurts where I don’t pick up my camera much at all. I noticed our Zinnias are blooming so I headed to the backyard to get pictures. I also discovered some of our other flowers have bloomed, but I’m not sure what this one is:

It made me so happy today to have time to myself and get behind my camera! I definitely need to make more time for myself and doing what brings me joy.

Jerzday!

I’m having a great night! As much as I love spending time with Vernon and Lo, having some time to myself to sit on the couch, paint my toenails and watch Jersey Shore is so good for me.

After work I talked to Vernon’s dad and helped him look up some information on his disability insurance, then headed outside to play with my little girl. Like most 2 year olds, she’s crazy about bubbles. When we were at the fair, one of the vendors was selling an awesome bubble gun for $8. That seems like a lot for plastic toy gun, but if you saw Lo in action with this thing you would agree that it was a great purchase! It lights up and makes noise and shoots tons of bubbles. When we bought it at the fair she was walking through the crowd shooting everyone with her bubble gun and it was the cutest thing!

Anyway, I need to get back to my nails! I’m painting them “Dream On” by Sinful Colors. It’s a really vibrant purple/pink. I am really lusting after “Charisma” by Zoya. Zoya is my favorite brand of nail polish, if you haven’t had the joy of painting your nails with it, definitely get on that!

Tuesday

I scored a great deal for Papa Johns, so tonight we ordered pizza and played Mario Kart after Lo went to bed. For some reason I was a total badass and couldn’t stop winning (:

Anyway… you can buy a $10 gift card voucher on Saveology for only $6, pair it with the free promo code you get when you register for Papa’s newsletter and get it super cheap! I paid $6.27 and got a large-3 topping and a medium cheese pizza.

We don’t order delivery too much anymore because it can get expensive (especially when I am in charge of ordering!), but I do get excited for it every now and then. If you want to use it later, the voucher doesn’t expire until 10/27/11 and is on sale for two more weeks. The promo code is valid until 12/31/11!

We made it!

Православни икониWe made it to the fair! It was so much fun. My favorite parts were seeing the different animals, there was both a petting zoo and a poultry and rabbits display where they had rabbits and chickens for sale as well as the prize winners. It was really hard not to come home with a bunny!

Lo adored seeing all the animals and gave the pigs hugs and kisses. It was really sweet, I’m thinking some day when she is a little older, we can get her some chicks and/or a rabbit as gifts for Easter. If we got them for her now she might squeeze them to death!

Riding rides and playing games wasn’t as much fun as the free stuff. By that time Lo was getting sleepy and cranky, and didn’t like waiting in line at all. When it was time to go she threw a huge embarrassing fit, but who cares. I’m sure it happens to all parents at some point.
