Gadgets galore!

Ugh! What a stressful evening I’m having already! I had to leave work early to pick up Lo, and in between the sitter’s house and the front door she threw two fits. I was able to talk her out of both of them without her having a huge melt down, but it was frustrating none-the-less.

We finally get settled in at home when my phone goes off with a text from my supervisor to the designers saying it was urgent so of course I hopped online to take care of the news. Many of the folks I work with have pc tablets so it is easy for them to get into work mode in just a few seconds, but I am not going to lie it throws me way off. I’m not used to doing my work from a laptop with a touch pad. In this kind of situation, trying to get set up with an actual mouse will waste too much time. It’s also hard for me to get my browsers organized and can really end up a mess.

My tower is a little (okay, a lot) outdated as I’ve had it since college and it isn’t even a intel mac. That thing is a hot mess. Maybe one day I’ll upgrade it and have a more peaceful experience when I have to jump into work at a moment’s notice!

Everyone needs a laptop!

I really love having a laptop computer, I’m not sure how people get by without having one. Since my doctor put me on bedrest it has been a lifesaver. I don’t even have to leave my couch and I still get paid!

I also think it is awesome that cellphone providers are now offering wireless cards that allow you to stay connected to the internet anywhere. I would have LOVED to have this option when I was working at a group home. That job was stressful and I always felt so disconnected from everyone.

Playstation

My friend Adam came up from Florida last weekend and it was soo good to see him! I met him through my ex-boyfriend (who put me through hell due to his drug addiction) so I’ll say it is nice to still have him as a friend after everything that went down.

He joked that he finally got a PS2 as if it were some kind of new technology. I’m surprised by how much the price on the Playstation 2 has come down. I’m actually considering getting one for the living room (our Nintendo Wii is in the den) for a little something to play when I get bored.

Shawn will probably tell me we don’t need one, and in all honesty we don’t. But when has that ever stopped me?

upgrading?

Late last night I was on iChat with Les and she wondered if she could find an affordable Macintosh on Ebay as cheap as the one she found for her boyfriend. We searched and searched and it seemed as though anything within her price range would definitely need to be upgraded with laptop memory. I had an Apple iBook g4 and I remember installing memory into it and it was fairy easy, which is surprising. I’m sure when they were built they took upgrades into consideration and constructed it so that you could easily do so.

I love my macbook to pieces, it runs great and fortunately I don’t need to upgrade it with anything. I would LOVE to get my hands on Mac OS Leopard though, I’m still running Tiger. I don’t know why I haven’t budgeted to get it yet, I think it’s pretty affordable considering it’s an operating system. I guess I’m just used to applications having ginormous price tags (ie: any adobe software, lol).
