That was a close one

ikoniOMG! I had the most stressful time with boogher.com today.

It all started when the primary domain connected to my hosting expired. I was using freckleface.org when I first purchased the account (years ago), so the only thing I used it for was to manage my hosted domains. When I realized it had infact expired, I decided I did not want to waste another $10 to renew it when I don’t even really use it.

So I got a wild hair up my bum and decided I wanted to transfer the primary domain from freckleface.org to boogher.com, since I know I will always blog here. I hopped on their live chat to figure out if it would be a complicated process, and was directed to a link explaining how to do this myself. I am usually really good at figuring things like that out, but it made no sense to me. So back to the live chat I went, hoping for either an explanation of the step I was stuck on, or to have someone do it for me.

He did get everything switched over for me, but somehow a lot my files were lost. Cue panic. Yes, I backed everything up but was having major issues getting my WordPress entries imported back in. Everything I tried was not working, I would get MySQL errors left and right. Finally when I no longer got an error, boogher.com was nothing but a white page.

I could see that everything was loaded into the database, I could see my blog info and entries, comments, everything… but nothing would load. Finally I decided to pull up my wp-admin and sure enough, it had me update my database. But still, nothing. Once I got logged in, I upgraded my WordPress install and TA-DA!

All fixed :) I’m so happy to be up and running again, as well as not having to pay for a useless domain. I should’ve switched them forever ago!

20/20 vision and I still can’t read your site

I’m telling you this site really, really needs a new layout. I wanted to put up one that reese of scribblescratch.com has created but I’m afraid it’s not widgetized. My layouts HAVE to have widgets because I am too lazy to fix up the sidebars everytime I put up a new theme.

I also hate it when a site is using a teeny tiny font that requires a damn magnifier to even read what it says. I admit my current font isn’t as large as it could be, but you can generally pull off small font sizes with san serif fonts. If I were using Times New Roman for example I doubt you could read a word.

themes

Do you know of any good wordpress theme sites? I’ve managed to get around to completing my own for my other site but I don’t know how much time, effort, or motivation I’ll have to put into creating one from scratch for boogher.com. I really should do it myself but it really is time consuming, I spent about two days working on my other theme and it was grueling. I usually try to change my other site’s theme once a month so perhaps if I keep up with the self made themes I will get a lot faster at it and will be able to do the same for this site. We shall see but in the meantime I will be hitting up premade theme sites!

Back in the groove

It has been a long time since I’ve been blogging here at boogher.com and today I realized I need to get my shit back together and get back on it. There’s no reason to let it go to waste, especially considering the great opportunities that sit here within this little domain. Expect a shit ton of posting from me today… and maybe I’ll even get so super inspired that I’ll do a layout update (this one has been up for HOW LONG now?) and add some worthwhile content. We shall see my pretties, we shall see.

New Layout!

I’ve seen most of the themes that are on the wordpress theme viewer about a bajillion times, and I am so working on getting good at creating my own from scratch (slowly, might I add. But I’m sure that will change once I get my MACBOOK :D )… but I just didn’t have the time to fool with it and I admit a layout change for boogher.com is WAY past due.

I’m just so attached to it’s old layout, and I’m not sure why. Oh well… I will try to refrain from switching it back like a little pansy. :P

Count your words

As you can see I try to do quite a bit of paid blogging, and one of the important factos of a paid blog is usually the wordcount. Now, I dunno about you but I’ve become pretty sick of opening up Microsoft Word in order just to blog because I hate to even deal with a program like that on my home computer (not a whole lof ot ram going on in this thing)… so after doing a little bit of googling a came across a nice little javascript form that you can type up your entry in and hit “count words” to see how many you have. SWEET. Click here to checkcheckcheckcheck check it out.

Note: this is a sticky post meaning it is stuck at the top to act as an announcement and more recent entries are underneath. ;)

After a lot of hard work and frustration I finally completed kelleyroo.

The Best Gift

I really wanted to make the switch because I liked the name a lot more and it has meaning so I decided to go ahead and go with it. I didn’t want to just let this blog go to waste though, so I will continue to use it for random things I feel like sharing and Payperposting. My more serious and seldomly somewhat thought out posting will be done at kelleyroo.com, although I can’t promise anything juicy or life altering — I’m trying.

Please visit and show me some loves. Please come back here too, I know I’m pretty ridiculous at times but if nothing else at least I’m really easy to make fun of.
