That was a close one

ikoniOMG! I had the most stressful time with boogher.com today.

It all started when the primary domain connected to my hosting expired. I was using freckleface.org when I first purchased the account (years ago), so the only thing I used it for was to manage my hosted domains. When I realized it had infact expired, I decided I did not want to waste another $10 to renew it when I don’t even really use it.

So I got a wild hair up my bum and decided I wanted to transfer the primary domain from freckleface.org to boogher.com, since I know I will always blog here. I hopped on their live chat to figure out if it would be a complicated process, and was directed to a link explaining how to do this myself. I am usually really good at figuring things like that out, but it made no sense to me. So back to the live chat I went, hoping for either an explanation of the step I was stuck on, or to have someone do it for me.

He did get everything switched over for me, but somehow a lot my files were lost. Cue panic. Yes, I backed everything up but was having major issues getting my WordPress entries imported back in. Everything I tried was not working, I would get MySQL errors left and right. Finally when I no longer got an error, boogher.com was nothing but a white page.

I could see that everything was loaded into the database, I could see my blog info and entries, comments, everything… but nothing would load. Finally I decided to pull up my wp-admin and sure enough, it had me update my database. But still, nothing. Once I got logged in, I upgraded my WordPress install and TA-DA!

All fixed :) I’m so happy to be up and running again, as well as not having to pay for a useless domain. I should’ve switched them forever ago!

Weird…

I’ve noticed something odd about payu2blog. Whenever I am on my macbook and try to login using Firefox… I get a login error saying my username/password combination is wrong. However I can open Safari on my macbook and login just fine using the same username and password. Has anyone on OS Tiger experienced this problem?

It’s really irritating because I don’t like Safari as much as I do Firefox. I go through phases where I like it one week, and not the next.

I like Safari mainly for it’s speed… I think it’s the fastest browser I’ve ever used. Firefox seems a little laggy when you compare the two, but not so much that Firefox seems slow. On the other hand, Firefox seems far sturdier than Safari. I’ve yet to find any super awesome plugins for Safari, either. I suppose that’s because up until version 3, Safari was a mac only application.

I am interested to see where Safari will go from here!
