Reaching the top

Last Monday I ordered a Canon Digital Rebel XT as well as a 2 gig SD card, I was really happy when they arrived on Wednesday. I’ve b een trying to take as many photos as I can and right now I have about 338 images until my SD card is full. The card came with a cute little keychain that can hold two memory cards.

I’m really really happy to have been able to replace my slr. I hated not having it once it was gone, and even though I’m no expert photographer I still really enjoy taking photos. It doesn’t mean I can’t get better either, give it time and you’ll see my photos in magazines. Along with my advertisments and page layouts.

BUHAHAH!

If you’re starting up your own business it’s important that you have imprinted promotional products. They can help get your brand out there and get it to really stick in consumers heads. One of the things that is constantly drilled into my brain here at work is brand, brand, brand. If it doesn’t carry on the company’s brand they are not interested in my design. I can understand where they’re coming from because it makes sense that you must always have the same logo in the same fashion and generally try to keep the same style so that people will automatically associate your logo with what you do, and in some cases the person behind it. Company branding and promotion is really sort of hard for me to wrap my mind around but I’m getting better at it.

When I was in college we had an assignment in my Computer Illustrations class to illustrate a Rolex watches. This specific assignment stands out in my mind because at the time I had just started a new job that required intense training, for two weeks I had to take a bajillion classes to get certified to work with mentally handicapped adults. Anyhow I missed a lot of class and didn’t have enough time to get the watch complete. The face was completely done, but I was struggling with the wristband of the watch. My good buddy Toya had attended class like a good little student and since we were connected at the hip she offered to let me copy her wristband. Looking back on it, it was a really dumb idea because I KNEW the whole time we would get caught, and that wasn’t a fair thing to do to Toya since she so graciously offered to let me use hers. I guess it was alright though because I’d written quite a few papers for her and possible done a project or two. Anyway, we did get caught, but in stead of getting a big fat 0 for cheating, I ended up getting 40% since after all, I did do half of it :)

This layout has managed to make it to a second winter making it up-to-date with the season in my part of the world. Not that it ever really snows here, but it makes me happy to think that my trusty dusty layout is still up, and it’s still snowing! Ha, how silly.

I’ve definitely hit a roadblock with my designs, and kelleyroo hasn’t had a layout created solely by me in a while.  I don’t know what that means or where all my creativity went. I don’t know if it’s from all the stress I’ve been through lately or what. It makes me sad and irritated at the same time, I used to design so much. It was all I ever did.

Maybe it’s my job?  :Z
