Gotta get it under control

We haven’t gotten around to any home improvement work lately, but with the cold weather and being cooped up in the house, I’m hoping we can get a few things done. Our house has just been out of control lately, to the point that it makes me feel anxious and irritated when I’m home. Vernon had started to together a very large weight machine months and months ago, and it’s still sitting in our den, half assmbled. It’s driving me crazy, and I just want it OUT. It’s so huge it takes up nearly the entire room, and because I’m mad that it’s still sitting there, I’ve just been tossing the laundry on the floor. I plan to get the laundry finished this weekend, and that weight machine needs to GO before the end of the month. Even if that means taking it apart myself.

Another thing I’d really like to get done by the end of the month is install a glass tile back splash in our kitchen. I adore tiled back splashes and the area I would like to cover shouldn’t cost us that much. Vernon even agreed to help me with it! I can’t wait!

CHRISTMAS IS COMING!!

And I am exciiiiiited! I had no idea how much more I would love holidays once I had a child. I’d actually started to dread them, but now that we have Lo, I get so excited for every single holiday.

Christmas is obviously no exception! I’ve already been planning out Lo’s Christmas gifts and thinking about the photo I’d like to include on our Christmas photo cards. Since I enjoy taking photos (and feel as though I’m pretty good at it), I won’t be taking Lo anywhere to get photos taken professionally when I can do it for free.

Here’s the design we’ll be going with this year:

I love that this card has the option to include three photos, which may or may not be all of Lo. I like that I have options to be creative when it comes to who to include on the card. I also love the bold colors of “Christmas” against the black background. I think it suits my style well!

All in all, I can’t wait to send cards out this year thanks to Shutterfly and the cute designs they offer. I say I’m going to every single year, and I never do. I’ll buy cheap cards at the store, and then they’ll sit there unused. There’s no telling how many unopened boxes of boring Christmas cards we’ll find when we get our decorations down from the attic.

Not this year! I’m way too excited about these awesome holiday cards!

Ugh

I just haven’t been feeling very well lately. The past few days I’ve done the bare minimum as far as housework goes, even skimping out on dinner which isn’t something that happens often. We don’t even order delivery for dinner once a week, and we’ve eaten out TWICE this week!

Tonight we decided to have Captain D’s and play PS3 together instead of watching TV or Netflix, but it didn’t last long because Vernon is already passed out, and has been for nearly two hours now. I’m not far behind him, but since I don’t get off work until 6, I just can’t go to bed all early like he does.

Speaking of getting off work, I had my first flat-tire in my “new” (it’s not new anymore considering I’ve had it for a year and a half now!) Versa today. I’m 99% sure it’s from having to drive through a construction area every morning which makes me *so mad* … I get to pay however much for a replacement or repair on my tire, all because one of the main roads I have to take to Lo’s babysitter is under construction? GRRR.

I will definitely be taking a new route from now on. There was a time in my life where I got a flat tire every time I turned around, and I am not willing to go back to that.

Pumpkins!

I’ve been so excited to visit Pumpkin Hill, a pumpkin patch/farm about 30 minutes from our house so Lo could see some animals and pick out her pumpkin! We finally went last weekend and it was soo much fun! We unfortunately didn’t get to the hayride, it was really crowded and I didn’t feel like getting cozy with strangers. Maybe we can go a little bit earlier in the month so that it’s not as crowded, because this time it was PACKED!

I’m so happy Lo enjoyed herself, but the dry weather has eczema acting up. That’s just another thing I dislike about cold weather, dry skin and scalp! UGH!

Do you tan?

I’ve never been to the tanning bed or tried different tanning lotions for tanning beds, so I’m really no use when it comes to suggesting great tanning salons, as I had to explain to my friend yesterday when she discovered her favorite tanning lotion had been discontinued.

If I’m outside and I get a tan, great! But getting or being tanned is not really one of my priorities. I mostly just hate being sunburned which usually happens regardless of whether or not I use sunscreen. It then fades to a tan, but the pain of being sunburnt isn’t really worth it!

Work work work

Life has gotten busy again! Vernon was on vacation last week and it was such a great week! We joke between ourselves that when one of us go on vacation, it is more of a vacation for the person still going to work. And it’s true, I was able to sleep in a few times (I did still get up some days though, after all it was his vacation!), I didn’t have a million things to do before work, and the best part–he was signed on gtalk all day so we could chat!

Unfortunately his vacation came to and end, so we’re back to the grind of going to work, researching natural acne treatment, having very early mornings, and struggling with the decision of what to eat for dinner.

I am looking forward to tomororw, though, Lo’s having a Halloween party at her babysitters! I’m sure she will really enjoy that :)

Off track

I used to blog a lot about my health, how I’m eating, weight loss, and so on… well, that’s pretty much down the drain. I’ve been getting Taco Bell for lunch a lot lately and I can’t remember the time I touched my life fitness treadmill.

I’m not sure where I got off track with all of it, but believe it or not I am still very happy with my weight. I feel a little on the large side some days, but overall I’m maintaining it pretty well.

I had a doctor visit a couple of weeks ago and was down at least 10 pounds since I’d seen her last in January. That made me really happy! I’m not sure how I manage to do it, but somehow I still fit in my skinny jeans!
