Busy bee

WHEW. The past couple of weeks have been nothing but busy busy busy for us! Vernon worked a lot of overtime this week so I’ve hardly seen him :( His birthday was Friday and he spent pretty much the whole day working!

I’ve been up to a lot of work as well with some freelance design projects, writing about the best acne treatments, and as always, taking care of my sweet little Lo.

Tomorrow is my 24th birthday. We’re taking Lo to her Lulu’s to visit with her Memoo while we get some much needed birthday time to ourselves. We’ll probably go to the Farmer’s market again and out to eat. I’m still trying to decide where I’d like to go. Last time we went to Red Lobster so I’d rather not go there. Maybe O’Charley’s… or Outback?

Decisions, decisions!

Last minute is my middle name

So last week we had a little party for Lo for her first birthday. Originally we were going to plan a big party at the park or somewhere with a pool but we couldn’t ever get around to making the final decision until like a few days before her birthday. We were going to invite just a few people over for burgers and cake. I invited her aunt Lulu and Smanda and Vernon was going to have over his brother. We ended up with more people though and it was soo much fun! It was mostly Vernon’s family, his half brothers and his brother’s kids, his brother’s girlfriend and his dad even stopped by for a while. Lulu and Memoo came by of course as well as Shmanda and her lady friend.

It was such a wonderful day even though it was raining off and on pretty much the whole day. I will always remember my daughter’s first birthday fondly. It seems like just yesterday she was hooked up to heart monitors, pulse oximeters, and any other contraption you could think of. I hated that holding her was so uncomfortable for both of us because she was hooked up to so many wires.

Those days are long gone, though, and more than anything I enjoy spending time with my healthy, beautiful one year old :)

In full force

Summer is definitely here, and I hate to say this but I almost can’t wait until it is GONE. Summer is one of those things I always look forward to during Winter, and then once it’s Summer, I’m all, “Man, I CANNOT WAIT until Winter!!!!” I haven’t gone that far yet, because even though the heat index has been nearly 105 degrees a few times in the past couple of weeks, I kinda like it. It’s the humidity here that I can’t stand.

Spring and fall are pretty much the perfect seasons as far as temperatures go, but I can’t stand having to stock up on allergy relief medicine in the Spring time. It gets expensive, not to mention I dislike taking medicine often. If I have a headache, it has to be really bad for quite some time before I’ll take anything for it. I don’t know why that is, I just don’t like medicine much.

I think I’ll stick with the raging heat for now. I’m definitely not ready for the cold.

The little things

Next week is our (Vernon and myself) birthdays. We don’t really have anything special planned other than some time out for dinner. Lo’s going to visit her Memoo for a little bit, and while I look forward to have time with just Vernon, I always feel a little anxious and sad knowing that I won’t get to see her for those few hours. Sometimes it makes me feel a little ridiculous… we’ve only had date nights 3 times since she’s been born, which was an entire year ago.

Crazy to think!

As a gift to us, Shmanda is going to clean our house up. It’s not like it’s trashed, but there are two rooms that could use some serious organization as I have previously mentioned. I think she’s going to tackle those. It would be nice if we had new bathroom fixtures to spice up our bathroom with, but honestly I think it needs a coat of new paint more than anything.

Like I always say, one of these days!

12 months

My sweet baby girl had her first birthday this weekend. WHAT A GREAT weekend full of family, friends, food, fireworks and love love love we had!

I think I will look forward to this time of year every year for the rest of my life. It’s so much fun that Lo’s birthday is so close to the Fourth of July, not to mention both Vernon and my birthday!

No thanks

Vernon works in a lot of big buildings, some old and some new. It scares me sometimes because he is usually up high in the ceiling where he can fall if he’s not careful. It makes my stomach turn to even think about. Another thing that freaks me out is that some of these old buildings could be full of asbestos. I have heard several of those law firm commercials asking if you suffer from Mesothelioma not knowing that Mesothelioma is caused by ASBESTOS.

Very very scary. Come to think of it our house is probably old enough to have insulation with asbestos in it. If we ever do any remodeling I will be 10000% sure to take necessary precautions in order to avoid getting it into our air. The whole thought of it just freaks me out.

Courage marks

I was one of the unlucky ladies who got stretch marks all over while pregnant. The moment I spotted my first one, I think I died a little inside. I applied stretch marks creams every. single. day. after getting out of the shower in hopes that I wouldn’t get any. I don’t know if creams really help or if it all depends on your genes, but I like to think that the creams I used at least helped minimize the marks.

Just the other day Vernon pointed out that you can hardly see them anymore! This excites me, not that I go around with my stomach showing, but you know, it’s nice not to have them jump out at you.

I’m thinking the products that I use probably helped them fade faster at the least!
