Safety first

Being out on your own without someone to protect you all the time can be a very scary thing, which is why I think everyone should invest in some sort of self defense products. I, myself, have a handful of knives and a stun gun from aaa-safetyfirst.com. My roommate has a very nifty key chain where you can flip a switch and it turns into pepper spray. I would like to get some because with pepper spray you don’t have to get close to the person to really get ‘em good, and with knives I worry about the fact that I will have to be within reach to really jab them. They do allow me to feel safe though, and if you’re ever in situations where you don’t feel safe having a similar product on hand really helps!

Promo products

If you’re starting up your own business it’s important that you have imprinted promotional products. They can help get your brand out there and get it to really stick in consumers heads. One of the things that is constantly drilled into my brain here at work is brand, brand, brand. If it doesn’t carry on the company’s brand they are not interested in my design. I can understand where they’re coming from because it makes sense that you must always have the same logo in the same fashion and generally try to keep the same style so that people will automatically associate your logo with what you do, and in some cases the person behind it. Company branding and promotion is really sort of hard for me to wrap my mind around but I’m getting better at it.

knitting help

I’ve been knitting a bit more lately and I’ve found a site that I’m really excited about. It has tons of videos and knitting patterns that teach you how to do cool knots and all sorts of things. I learned how to knit back when I was working at the daycare but I never learned anything more than the basic stitch and with that I’ve made a handful of scarves and a few hats. I can’t say I really have the desire to make something like a knitted sweater, but it would be cute to make them for my niece and nephew. Socks would be fun to make as well. I mostly want to figure out how to do fancy knots for scarves, make hats using circular needles and possibly even some purses.

Home movies

If you have a media room or a home theater you may want to invest in home theater carpet. Star Gate Cinema has tons of neat stuff to put in your home theater, something I will most likely never have. I don’t really need one though because I don’t even like to watch movies all that much. I do but it is rare that I can make it all the way through one, unless it’s Sling Blade or Requiem For A Dream, but hell even Requiem is sometimes hard for me to get through. What a great great movie though. The last movie I attempted to watch TWICE was Donnie Darko, yet we didn’t make it all the way through either time. Shame on us.

Ch ch ch check it out

I’ve never been a fan of gold jewlery. I’m not sure why, I think it’s pretty and all but once I see it on me it just doesn’t work so well. Gold watches are really nice but I would look much better with a silver one. My grandfather had a big gold watch that always displayed the exact time. I’m not sure how that works but I think all watches should be that way. He was really proud of that watch, lol he talked about it all the time.

Fucker

Despite having a three day weekend last week, it was still pretty crappy. I’ve been having some problems with my current roommate, and those issues had to be addressed this weekend because I simply could handle it no longer. I spent most of the weekend being bent out of shape about that, and then, on the third day of my glorious weekend I realized that my Canon Rebel XTi was no longer in it’s case and this only meant one thing: Paul stole it.

I was bent out of shape about him even being in town a week ago but this was just the icing on the cake. Whenever I would use my camera it ALWAYS made its way back into the case. I paid over $900 (including tax and a memory card) for that camera and I wasn’t about to let it get lost or broken. The case was the safest place for it to be. I kept the case in my closet because that seemed like the logical place to put it.

When he and I were living together I watched that camera constantly. I ALWAYS checked to make sure it was still in it’s place and it really chaps my ass that the ONE TIME I did not think about it, or didn’t think to check, or didn’t think to hide it, he snagged it from me. I called him up and gave him a good verbal beating, but that won’t get my camera back. It’s long gone now and I couldn’t be any sicker about it.

Cheater cheater pumpkin eater!

When I was in college we had an assignment in my Computer Illustrations class to illustrate a Rolex watches. This specific assignment stands out in my mind because at the time I had just started a new job that required intense training, for two weeks I had to take a bajillion classes to get certified to work with mentally handicapped adults. Anyhow I missed a lot of class and didn’t have enough time to get the watch complete. The face was completely done, but I was struggling with the wristband of the watch. My good buddy Toya had attended class like a good little student and since we were connected at the hip she offered to let me copy her wristband. Looking back on it, it was a really dumb idea because I KNEW the whole time we would get caught, and that wasn’t a fair thing to do to Toya since she so graciously offered to let me use hers. I guess it was alright though because I’d written quite a few papers for her and possible done a project or two. Anyway, we did get caught, but in stead of getting a big fat 0 for cheating, I ended up getting 40% since after all, I did do half of it :)
